AKAed “the Johnnies,” the JHM Awards are the Canadian University Press’ version of the National Newspaper Awards. These awards exist to celebrate and reward the excellence that can be found in many publications at universities and colleges across the country. The Johnnies kick off on Jan. 7, 2017 in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Cover of the year
Graphic of the year
Illustration of the year
Layout of the year
Photo of the year
Sports photo of the year
Best in Social Media
Video of the year
Best website with budget over 150K
Best website with budget under 150K
Best in Multimedia
Student Journalist of the year
Student Photojournalist of the year
Student Editor of the year
Information regarding submissions
Submission deadline is Nov 11. at midnight.
If you are nominating yourself or someone else for a Writing Award, you are required to submit a blinded document, meaning that the document cannot feature the author's or publication’s name.
If you are nominating yourself or someone else for a Visual Award , you are required to submit a JPEG of the photo/graphic, or a PDF of layout you are submitting.
If you are nominating yourself or someone else for a Multimedia Award including Best website with budget under 150K, Best website with budget over 150K, Best in Multimedia, or Video of the year, you are required to submit a link to the website/video/article. If you are applying for Best in Social Media, please provide a report outlining your paper's social media efforts and a portfolio with tweets, Facebook posts and stories.
If you are nominating yourself or someone else for an Individual Award please attach your/the candidate's resume as well as a report (or in the case of Student Photojournalist of the year, a portfolio), of the individual applying for the award.

Non-member papers will be subject to a submission fee of $5 per entry. A publication's submissions will be tallied after the submission period closes. The publication will then receive a bill.
